That is the poster. Made simply (and not very well) using Canva. I love it. It represents progression. It represents my journey continuing. It represents growth.
Working day and night as well as fitting in healing time for myself and motherhood and studying…I often feel like I’m not making any progress ~ don’t confuse movement with progress are words I live by. But then i step back. Take a look at what’s happening here Laura, this is moving in the right direction. This is moving forward, be patient.
The inner monologue can’t agree on its own point of view, which is very interesting to me considering the most recent module of my Psychology course. I digress…
It’s been a while since I’ve written here, and not for any good reason other than I’ve been writing other stuff. I’ve been putting ideas into practice and seeing them bloom. I’ve been watching material I’ve written help and teach others.
It’s very easy to be dismissive of this achievement, self depreciation comes easily to us Scots, but slowly and surely I’m getting my sh*t together and passing all of these milestones I’m setting myself. Go me!
The main thing I have been occopied with is writing and delivering material to students and class participants. From seasoned meditators with whole careers and professorships to tiny little humans with drool on their chins, I am focused on not just communicating, but on connection.
So far my adult (ESL) classes have included:
Stress, Love, Confidence, Gratitude, Fear, Guilt and Trust.
My kids ESL classes have included:
Using our senses, growing a seed, Colours and Feelings, Being Kind to others and many other mini themes too.
As I study and learn and apply that to my own practice and teaching, I have come to realize that mindfulness can be practiced in every single thing we do, in every way, position, noise level and language that we choose.
I am so excited to discover more about it all, and put it into practice in my classes.
Why did I write this update? Perhaps to validate my own progress, perhaps to back up my claims. Regardless, it’s a journey worth documenting. It’s my journey, and I’m so glad you’re here with me 😚
